I chanced upon the latest Nike Basketball “New Breed, New Game” viral video on Azrael’s blog. The video was uploaded August 20 and it currently has around 3,000+ views on Youtube. I watched the video and the production value is definitely there. I wonder though if this video has enough “coolness” to power it through to 300,000 views or more? In all honesty I feel like this is better for a 30 seconder TVC than an online viral video.
Here’s the video for your viewing pleasure.
Az, you were right! This reminded me a lot of Bravestar, haha!
What do you guys think? Does this video have the elements of a good viral video?

I don’t get what’s viral with this, in fact, it looks like a bitin TVC. Lol. There’s nothing that makes me want to look for more.
Yep it’s like Chiz Escudero’s viral vid. Full of coolness but not really viral.
Pretty tired and tried ad. You’re correct in saying it has a lot of “coolness” but not really.
There wasn’t anything that’s slightly interestingingly different about this. From a conceptual perspective and a story-teller perpective, it doesn’t seem to have the necessary elements in making a lasting impression.
If say, Nike, presented the UAP teams as a whole Ecosystem then that would probably be a bit different. As i keep telling my friends about creative conceptualization, it’s the difference between simile and metaphor. If you’re going to show them what a semblance of your idea, better to push the envelope the whole 9 yards. A metaphor will always out power a simile! What we just saw was the latter. Gun for a Metaphor Nike, then let’s see that ad again!
“From a conceptual perspective and a story-teller perspective, it doesn’t seem to have the necessary elements in making a lasting impression”
