Using Foursquare for Brand Equity and Engagement

Fitz, one of the speakers during iBlog 7 talked about how he used Foursquare to raise awareness and build brand equity for his blog “the Thirsty Blogger”. He shared that he would leave tips on various restaurants and coffee shops about the coffee, what they can do there, and other interesting stuff using the “Thirsty Blogger” name. This was one of the valuable tips I got from the entire conference and I’ve been itching to do the same for Unbox.

It’s been a while now since iBlog 7 but I suddenly remembered Fitz again after checking in Foursquare at Kimono Ken at Podium this afternoon. After checking-in a tip popped up and guess what… it’s from Thirsty Blogger. :)

Kudos to Fitz for this particular tip. It’s not your generic review or general observation about the restaurant. It’s a tip that has a human interest angle to it and it will definitely get your attention if it pops up. Hope you keep up the good work bro!

  1. Thanks Carlo!

And you know the best part of this strategy? You don’t even have to own a smartphone. You can add the tips just through any computer browser.

  2. Excellent read.

A good argument to present to those on my LinkedIn group who’re still on the foursquare fence.
