TV Patrol Interview re: Gartner Study

ABS-CBN reporter Gretchen Malalad asked for some insights about the recently released Gartner study which showed the Philippines as one of the leading Facebook/Twitter adapters in Asia. Note that this is based on social media penetration which means total number of social media users versus total number of internet users in the country. It’s not a direct comparison of registered users. Like what I wrote in my previous article, we think that it’s just natural to lead in Asia due to the following factors:

  • The Philippines is one of the biggest English speaking countries in Asia
  • Bulk of the internet demographic in the Philippines (A, B, C1) is highly influenced by Western trends and culture
  • Filipinos are hospitable, sociable, and “chismoso”

The actual news report though focused more on the access points of cafes being one of the primary reasons why a lot of Filipinos now have regular and cheap access to social networks like Facebook.

  1. 3 seconds is long enough. I once reached 5 seconds in GMA 7 news second story.

    • Haha, thanks Noems. I think the longest I’ve ever had was around 15-20 seconds during my interview with Ces Drilon on TVP about the ABS-CBN Harapan debates. I think I posted the video in the sidebar.

Btw, I miss you and Jane! Let’s have coffee soon! My treat. :D
