Top 10 Influential Emerging Blogs

May 15

Janette Toral recently launched the top 10 influential emerging blogs project. Basically bloggers nominate 10 blogs that just started May 2008 that they think have grown in readership and influence. You don’t have to write down all 10 and you can edit your entries until August 2, 2009. I had problems getting 10 blogs since it’s hard to check blogs that don’t have archives on their sidebar (to see if they started on May 2008). I only have 5 right now but I’ll make it a point to complete the 10 before August. Check out my personal top 10 influential emerging blogs after the break.

1. Hay! Men! Ang Blog ng Tunay na Lalake
If there’s any blog that should be on this list, this should be it. They started just a few weeks ago and they’ve catapulted themselves into the lives of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos. Their witty humor and their very relevant satire just doesn’t get old and I find myself reading this almost everyday just to get a few laughs. One of the few blogs that can actually brighten up your day (if you can appreciate their brand of comedy). Note: Isa akong tunay na lalake. Hahahaha!

2. Millionaire Acts
I’m a strong believer of personal and practical finance. That’s why I was really sad when Salve Duplito left Money Smarts from Inquirer Blogs. It’s a good thing that there are several new finance bloggers who have started their own sites. One of them is Tyrone from Millionaire Acts. This guy has a lot of good things to say so you might want to visit his site as well.

3. Clueless Church Planter
Another blog that I follow daily. This is the site of the pastor of Victory Greenhills. He writes about his experiences in church-planting as well as other tidbits of biblical insights that will definitely uplift your spirit and add value to your day. Go Pastor Dennis!

4. Hearty’s Haven
A lifestyle and fashion blog that has soooooo many topics but all of them are very interesting reads. Rochelle is a very active blogger and you can see her in a lot of events. She’s a very bubbly person and her happiness can be infectious. By the way, if you have questions about iPhone apps, she’s the person you go to!

5. Santos.Ph
My good friend Sonnie started several new blogs that are all aggregated to a portal Santos.ph. What I love about this is that all of his blogs really make sense and they all give value to the readers. He writes about personal finance, christian living, corporate life, personal branding, and a whole lot more of topics that are very relevant and useful.

6. Patay Gutom Food Blog
This is a really cool idea – a collaborative food blog. They have several correspondents which makes it lighter on the pocket. I have my own food blog right now but it’s really expensive to maintain, hahaha. Anyway, I sincerely believe that this will be one of the biggest food blogs in this country given more time, content, and promotions.

Okay, that’s it for now. I’ll try to complete the 10 before August. By the way, if you’re nominating 10 blogs for this writing project, maybe you can also add New Media Philippines to your list. :)

As you can see, I haven’t completed it yet. If you want to nominate anyone (even yourself), please feel free to leave a comment with the URL of your blog so I can visit it and check.

If you liked this entry, please do share this article on Facebook or Twitter!

  12. Hello Carlo. Kindly note that the Clueless Church Planter started before May 2008. Also, Santos.PH is more of an aggregator pooling content from several blogs.

Kindly replace the said two as you complete your top 10.

    Thank you.

  13. Hi Carlo,

I am currently browsing your archives :-) I haven’t really been an avid blog-hopper so I am doing that before deciding on my list. I didn’t know there was such a thing as emerging influential blogs and I definitely want to make my vote count!

  21. Yes, Salve was my inspiration too (still is). As a matter of fact, when she allowed me to participate as her Bianca (and my husband her Diego) in the Money Smarts’ financial makeover, everything kind of snowballed and we were ushered into the wonderful world of financial know-how. It’s wonderful and it is interesting. Haha. More power to your blog and to your top ten!
