Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs (Round 2)

May 26

Based on Janette’s comments in my previous post for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs, I have to omit two entries and complete the list. This post pretty much is my final entry to the writing project. I’ve already taken out the two blogs that weren’t qualified and added a new batch of blogs to round up the 10. Check them after the break.

And here’s my final list:

1. Hay! Men! Ang Blog ng Tunay na Lalake
If there’s any blog that should be on this list, this should be it. They started just a few weeks ago and they’ve catapulted themselves into the lives of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos. Their witty humor and their very relevant satire just doesn’t get old and I find myself reading this almost everyday just to get a few laughs. One of the few blogs that can actually brighten up your day (if you can appreciate their brand of comedy). Note: Isa akong tunay na lalake. Hahahaha!

2. Millionaire Acts
I’m a strong believer of personal and practical finance. That’s why I was really sad when Salve Duplito left Money Smarts from Inquirer Blogs. It’s a good thing that there are several new finance bloggers who have started their own sites. One of them is Tyrone from Millionaire Acts. This guy has a lot of good things to say so you might want to visit his site as well.

3. Hearty’s Haven
A lifestyle and fashion blog that has soooooo many topics but all of them are very interesting reads. Rochelle is a very active blogger and you can see her in a lot of events. She’s a very bubbly person and her happiness can be infectious. By the way, if you have questions about iPhone apps, she’s the person you go to!

4. Patay Gutom Food Blog
This is a really cool idea – a collaborative food blog. They have several correspondents which makes it lighter on the pocket. I have my own food blog right now but it’s really expensive to maintain, hahaha. Anyway, I sincerely believe that this will be one of the biggest food blogs in this country given more time, content, and promotions.

5. Good Times Manila
I think this inspired the Tunay na Lalake Blog. Good Times Manila is Filipino satire at it’s best. If you have no sense of humor, better not visit this site. I always find myself teary-eyed from laughing out loud each time I read their entries.

6. Father Blogger
With all the young pregnancies and shotgun marriages lately, this blog offers a lot of value and insight for couples who are starting their own families. Here’s the text on his About Me page.

I am Angel Cuala, a Filipino, and a happily married man with 2 wonderful children. I am a licensed Electronics and Communication Engineer and have worked for different electronic companies for 16 years.

However, I did not find full satisfaction and real happiness in all those years. This is because I feel I have a greater purpose in life.

My childhood was not normal at all. I am a product of a broken family, and start earning a living at the age of 10. If you’re interested to know more about my childhood, please feel free to read my interviews by Alexys Fairfield here and here.

Being a former street child who was raised without a mother, my advocacy now is to help all families to stay together and be happy. This is very far from what I used to do, but this is very close to my heart. This may be a small contribution from me, but I believe this create a big impact to my role as a parent. I may not have any formal education and training about handling families and children, but I will use my childhood experiences, observations on my surrounding, and my daily task as a family man.

Experience is the best teacher.

7. Filipino Mom Blog
Here’s another blog that I believe offers a lot of value to their readers, especially to their fellow moms. It has a lot of practical parenting tips, cooking ideas, and even vacation spots.

8. RP2010
A blog that covers the upcoming 2010 election. It also has an information campaign on how to vote, etc. Very relevant and useful site for all Filipinos. :)

9. Thirsty Blogger
Another unique concept – blog that reviews drinks. Hahaha. Nice one Fitz.

10. New Media Philippines
Shameless self-plug and promotion, hahaha! If you guys are making your own list, please do try to include New Media Philippines in your list. Thank you!

And that’s that. If you own a blog, join the writing project! Cheers. :)
