The Most Frustrating DSL Connection Ever

My blogging has been a bit intermittent over the past few weeks because I’ve been having insane amounts of trouble with my PLDT MyDSL connection. I’ve written a detailed account of what I’ve been experiencing in my Games & Technology blog, Waukster Online. Let me just post the links to the posts for your “reading pleasure”. Right now I’m just relying on my cellphone’s built-in modem so that I can connect to the net.

Broadband DSL Rants and Raves – A post summarizing my experiences with various broadband providers. I talked about what I went through with SMART Bro, Plug-it, Bayantel, and PLDT MyDSL.

PLDT MyDSL Nightmares – 200 KBPS connection for P1995 monthly. Dial-up connection might be even faster that what I was getting.

PLDT MyDSL Nightmare Continues – How they installed the wrong connection and refuse that I terminate the subscription without paying the damned pre-termination fee.

PLDT MyDSL Nightmare Never Ends – I get disconnected without any notice and they don’t have a clue when it will be fixed.

Man. This is one of the most frustrating experiences ever.

Hi, Carlo… Are you using your phone as modem with an hourly flat rate from the ISP? If you have a good 3G signal, you can actually use internet at no cost at all – good for blogging…

  2. Renzie says:

So sorry to hear that, man.

I blogged about how crappy Globe Broadband was about a year ago- I was without internet for months (months!) despite all the constant following up, etc. I’ve also heard PLDT had some serious issues. Your blog entry only reinforced that idea even more.

Have you tried Smart Bro? I’ve been on it since I got back from the US two months ago, and so far, I haven’t had any problems with it.

Here’s the URL to my horrible Globe experience:

In fact, maybe I should write an update about it. I hope you don’t mind if I link to your story.

    Cheers, man.

I also paid P1995 and just get 300kbps. Badtrip!

  4. I’m very happy to report that after 3 months my friggin’ connection is now okay. Hayz. ><;

Yeah, PLDT has that thing with them, their service needs to “settle in” first so you’ll have problems for a few months before it’ll work right.

  6. Marissa Dames says:

Kahit isang truck pa na libreng laptop ibigay ng PLDT sa akin as an incentive for signing up, di ko tatanggapin yan! Baka ibato ko pa sa kanila. Here’s why…

A little more than a year ago, I was standing in your shoes, irate and frustrated at how LOUSY my PLDT DSL connection was.

I am now happy as a clam since I switched to Zpdee. In the far and between times I needed technical help, the people at Sky were always very helpful. And action agad.

This is like a 180 degree contrast from my former PLDT DSL which gave me hiives and an elevated blood pressure from the inept, stupid and downright uncaring attitude of their technical people and the equally deplorable nature of their customer service!

So good luck na lang sa mga na lo loko parin nang PLDT DSL!

High price(ok lang sa sana kung mataas ang price basta maayos lang ang service) and inversely proportionately low quality connection and service!

    Disaster talaga

Actually all the new SMART BRO offerings both plug it and share it are offering 2 mbps speeds and sometimes deliver. Both share it has antenna connections and plug it if inserted in a globe or sun modem usb plug it opened line has a antenna connection to make better speeds even indoors.

With an outdoor antenna and not far from a cell tower you should get these speeds at times.

Check out the share it details/review at http://smartbroshareit.wordpress.com/

and plug it review/details here 995 pesos for usb now
