The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 is currently on-going in the US right now. Global tech companies are all trying to raise awareness and hype for their new products coming this year. It wasn’t actually a surprise that the main focus for this year’s event would be on smart phones and especially tablets given the smashing performance of the Apple iPad in 2010. One thing is definitely clear — Apple needs to come out with the iPad 2 because the specs and features of the Android, Windows, and the BlackBerry tablets are far superior to the iPad. The main advantage of Apple is really their lifestyle brand power and the vibrant app store.

Here are some of the Android powered devices that were unveiled during CES 2011:
Sony Ericsson XPERIA ARC
This one looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous. Kudos to Ericsson for making this XPERIA so classy and elegant.
LG Optimus X2 Dual Core 2 Tegra Smart phone
Arguably one of the most powerful smart phones ever made (for now)
Motorolla Atrix 4G
Cool but a bit boring demo, hehe.
One of the devices that I’m really keeping a close eye on is the BlackBerry PlayBook. They had a booth at CES and the good people over at CrackBerry.com made several videos. Here’s one of them which I also posted on BlackBerry Manila:
BlackBerry PlayBook Walkthrough
Two questions after watching: How much and when? Haha.
There are still a lot of other tablets and smart phones that were released especially from Microsoft. I’ll be posting a separate article on that since they really came out with a lot of products in just one day that it would be weird to cram everything into this single entry.
If you’re wondering if there’s any news on Apple, there’s none. They didn’t participate in CES 2011.

Oh God, the Arc. I came.
Lol, you’re really a diehard Sony Ericsson fan bro.
I saw this interesting comment on CES
CES: iPad killers, what iPad killers?
http://blogs.computerworld.com/17608/ces_ipad_killers_what_ipad_killers
Cool article John. There won’t be one product that will kill the iPad in one day. All of these tablets though will eat away at the market share. I’m excited with both Android 3.0 and the PlayBook. If I had tons of cash I’d buy one of each, haha
Agree,
Actually It’s a great investment for you because you can always use that, share some reviews & stories behind that gadgets.
Playbook looks really promising! If I had extra cash, I’d buy one and use it alongside my iPad.
