Social Intelligence Start-up ThoughtBuzz launching in the PH

After 3 years and 7 months, Jonas De Los Reyes, one of the paragons of community management in the Philippines is leaving Yahoo to head a start-up social media monitoring and intelligence company called ThoughtBuzz. The company is currently present in Singapore, Malaysia, and India with plans to expand to the Philippines and Indonesia in 2012. Jonas will be Country Manager for the Philippines.

Thoughts on Social Media Monitoring & Intelligence

Analytics plays a crucial role in any field of work and that includes social media. I’ve used Radian6 before and it churned out fantastic reports that helped us decide on a lot of important issues in 2011. However the biggest problem with this service is that it’s brutally expensive especially if your search results are in the tens of thousands. It’s hard to justify the monthly fees for services like this.

That’s my hope with ThoughtBuzz. I hope that they will adjust the price to the Philippine market so that more companies can get their feet wet in social media monitoring and intelligence.

On a more personal note…

I’ve known Jonas for more than 3 years now. I first bumped into him when I was still in Level Up and we were talking about potential partnerships for gaming with Yahoo. What struck me the most about this guy is that he’s deeply passionate about digital (especially community management). That’s why I’m personally very happy for him!
