I think it’s safe to say that the world is getting flooded with choices for smartphones. A few months ago RIM announced they would be releasing 7 new phones with the BlackBerry 7 OS this year. Today HTC just revealed they are going to unveil 8 new phones in the third quarter. Apple is also gearing up to launch the highly anticipated iPhone 5 and maybe even a more affordable iPhone for the mass market. For Q1 next year Nokia is gearing up for their Windows powered phones. There are also a lot of other handsets that will be released by other manufacturers like Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG, Dell, and even local companies like Cherry Mobile and My Phone. It’s actually reaching a point that the choice for smartphones is like the situation of billboards in Edsa. Cluttered!
For example, can you make out all the different phones and tablets in this photo?
Here’s the “answer key”:
Want advice on what phone to get? Patience. Wait for major hardware and software breakthroughs. Don’t get swayed by the marketing and the gadget lust. Resist as much as you can. Get Apple’s iPhone 5 this September. Guess what? There’s iPhone 6 next year! Get one of the 7-8 new HTC phones in Q3! Well… how many new phones will be in Q4?
Now if only I can take my own advice. Hahaha!

I guess you should follow the advice you’ve given in a different article, the one about blogger endorsements: Before you buy a new smartphone, make sure it can return your investment.
