SMART Bro’s latest event and promotion really caught me by surprise. They had an event called SMART Bro B Free Day at the Mega Tent along Meralco Avenue. In the event, they gave away 10,000 free units of the UAAP/NCAA designed SMART Bro USB Plug-it modems to students. I was invited by Havoc Digital and SMART to cover the event as a blogger and I obliged. The event was a whole day affair with various booths, raffles, and band performances.
Here’s the trailer that they released on Youtube. I’m a bit curious though as to why only less than 500 were able to view the trailer. Maybe they should have pimped it out some more through online advertising?
I was able to go home with 2 Ateneo-themed SMART Bro Mobile plug-its. They had a promo price of P895. I actually felt bad a bit since I was one of the first users to buy the first SMART Bro plug-it model for around P4000. Now it’s down to P895. Sucks. Haha!
Anyway, the event was good but I think they could have driven more foot traffic to it by advertising it more or partnering with different online communities.
Thanks to SMART and Havoc Digital for the invitation.
PS: I’ll be posting part 2 of the Value Blogging Tips Series this coming Wednesday. I’ll be talking about different ways on how to make real money for Filipinos through blogging.

kasi they kept it so “secret”. Killed their own buzz
they didnt want to promote it well…coz they dont want daw to mobbed by unwanted targets.. ( i think they refer to the anak ng kadiliman na mahilig mag gate crash pag may rock concerts)
which is good.and for me..its a launching event that will target school for school fair activities.
Hey Az,
Understand what you mean. However I don’t think they were able to max out the venue right? I was there until mid afternoon and the crowd wasn’t that big.
I’m sure if they promoted it more they could have driven thousands upon thousands of students to the venue.
Just my two cents
Cheers,
Carlo
yeah…the venue is too big.
they used the internet in promoting.
same as the success of jack daniels world tour. they aimed to the right market lang.
i heard there will be a part 2. so abangan na lang natin
@Az: Wow, that’s great. I think the over-all intention and objective was sound. The only problem was really the turnout.
Online marketing didn’t seem to go well. I’m a Smart Bro user and I wasn’t even informed about this. Tsk. I could have gone there! Now I wish there’s a part 2.
It’s hard to get a good turnout, even for free events. We put on a concert earlier this year to benefit the Philippine Aid Society and had about 1,000 people show up although we were aiming for at least 2,000. We did a lot of promotion but I guess not enough.
