One of the talks that I enjoyed and appreciated the most last iBlog 6 was Marhgil Macuha‘s session on Search Engine Optimization. By the way, he recently just quit his job from a fortune 500 company because he’s earning enough already from blogging to make it a full time endeavor (kudos to you bro!). In his presentation, Marhgil gave a short crash course on SEO which both newbie and intermediate bloggers could learn from. There’s nothing like hearing stuff from a master! Let me just summarize his key points to immortalize his speech on the web.
The first most important rule is to SEO keywords that are actually being searched for. There’s no point in going through the grueling process of link building if they keyword you’re targeting isn’t even worth the effort. Marhgil explained that a good tactic is to make posts that provide solutions and answers, something that I already tackled in a previous post.
Secondly, Google has a habit of changing the code or formula for SEO. However the following factors are almost always constant. Here are those things:
1. Keyword in the Title Tags
2. Site Popularity
3. Inbound Links
4. Age of Site
5. Site Structure
6. Keyword Use in Site Content
7. Outbound links
8. Age of page
9. Keyword use in heading Tags
10. Age of Link
11. Site Speed
12. Keywords in Title Tag
13. Keyword Rich Permalink URLs
14. Related Post Plug-ins

Marhgil really one serious blogger when it comes to SEO…his e-books taught me lots of infos about seo.
Marghil was really a good speaker and its nice to see some tips from someone who really is successful with SEO. Its also nice to see him personally.
