The Department of Tourism is turning the tables on all of their critics that slammed their “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” campaign. In a new announcement posted in the microsite www.tourismpilipinas.com, they are calling on copy writers, designers, and QA officers to volunteer to “wikify” the new website. Volunteers will e-mail DOT and they’ll get the private URL of the new website and they can then tell the DOT which page they would like to work on. The page will be credited to the volunteer. Here’s a direct quote of the mechanics:

* Send an email to eamacayayong@tourism.gov.ph and express your desire to volunteer.
* She will then give you the URL of the interim website.
* Tell her (via email) the page you’d like to work on.
* Submit a write-up (either as rewrite of existing one or an entirely new one) and/or a captioned photo.
* We will put your name as a contributor, both to give credit and assign accountability.
* Of course, we will exercise editorial control throughout the whole process. This content will not only be used in the interim website but also in the full-featured website. Think of it as the wiki-approach to building our tourism website. BTW, put on the subject, “I WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO PROJECT DOT WIKI-WEBSITE”
Very interested to see how this will all turn out!

Let’s hope for the best!
I’ll volunteer for QA!
Be sure to put footnotes and the source/s of data used.
Finally! Interestingly, today’s headline for the Inquirer reads:
“Noy junks new DOT logo”.
Count me in. I will help in anyway I can. My content can be through photographs that I have and will take in various tourism destinations.
