Presidential Spokesperson Lacierda will probably regret his latest Tweet

Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda is about to get mobbed big time on Twitter. He just posted a few minutes ago calling out the “leftists” who were protesting against the recent increase in oil prices via a transport strike. In a tweet on his account @dawende said:

Noticed how leftists are so onion-skinned? Tinawag lang perjuicio ang strike, pumputok ang butchi nila! Mahilig bumanat pero mga pikon pala!

Here’s a screenshot:

And he just gave the President's detractors ammunition :D

He’s obviously free to say whatever he wants to say on Twitter but if things go wrong this could end up as another PR disaster for him.

On a more personal note regarding the same issue… I read that DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas was strongly defending VAT on oil during his talk with transport groups earlier this afternoon. I’m a bit disappointed since I distinctly remember him championing the very same cause when he was still a Senator. In fact, here’s the video that’s uploaded on Youtube talking about why it should be removed:

Oh well. :/

  1. Just like that Mai Mislang controversy about Vietnam & wine, government officials are and will always be under the microscope of people. Sorry, there’s no getting out of that 24×7 role. As GMA-News so correctly shouts their online slogan… #thinkB4Uclick !!!

    Thanks for sharing, Carlo! :-)

  2. Thanks for sharing. I was trying to download the YouTube video to no avail. I was thinking they might remove it soon if it gets too viral.
