A very interesting article came out on GMA News yesterday. The news bit said that President Noynoy Aquino and Senator Manny Villar were number 3 and 5 respectively in the list of politicians in Facebook that had the most number of “likes”. Number 1 in the list was US President Obama followed by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Aquino was at third then Michelle Obama and Senator Manny Villar at 5th place. The data was taken from a third party analysis site called Facebakers. You can check it now and filter through various official page categories to see the top profiles with the most number of likes. Pound-for-pound, however, the Philippines has more online citizens rallying behind its president than does the US, based on Facebakers.com data. Just over 11 percent of all 14.6 million Filipino Facebook users “Liked” Noynoy’s fanpage, as opposed to just under 8 percent or 10 million of all 125.88 million Americans who “Liked” Barack Obama.
SourceFurthermore, data from Facebakers.com shows that President Aquino’s Fanpage saw a sharp increase in the rate of new fans added per day, beginning around the start of July —just after his inauguration on June 30:
