Around 5 years after the fact, high level government officials are finally learning to embrace technology and new media. An officemate plurked that none other than the President of the Republic of the Philippines, President Arroyo, is now on Twitter. I’m 99% sure this isn’t the real President Arroyo, but at least it looks like she’s doing it, haha. Her PR Team is probably the one handling her social media platforms (this is usually the case).
She made a good choice with
Twitter and not
Plurk. If she decided to go with
Plurk, the threaded conversations and replies will probably stress her out. With our President’s indirect endorsement of social media, expect all the politicians to jump on the bandwagon. Senators, Congressmen, and even local government officials will now be scrambling to make blogs, micro-blogs, facebook accounts, and what have you.
