PH now 6th Biggest Country on Facebook in the World

The Philippines is officially the 6th biggest user base of Facebook in the world. Facebakers report that the Philippines now has over 17.9M registered users. The report goes further and says that 17.9% of the total population of the country is now on Facebook (that’s a significant big number). We’re actually just 1.6M short of overtaking France as the 5th biggest country and I won’t be surprised if we surpass them in the next 3-4 months.

In terms of age, the youth and young adults still dominate the total number of Filipino users of Facebook. This isn’t at all surprising since that’s the *wired* generation. What’s interesting to note is that the segment above 35 continues to grow at a pretty quick rate.

Age Breakdown of Filipino Facebook Users (Facebakers)

Here are the top 5 countries using Facebook (ahead of the Philippines):

1. United States (143,090,140)
2. Indonesia (29,844,240)
3. United Kingdom (27,969,360)
4. Tukey (23,129,020)
5. France (19,677,640)

A lot of marketers have observed that more local ads are popping out on Facebook. It looks like Philippine companies are trying various campaigns on Facebook and other social networking sites. I can’t blame them since study after study keeps on hammering the fact that it’s where the Filipino internet user is going.

Since we’re already on the topic, please do add me up on Facebook. :)
