My girlfriend logged out of
Multiply last night and we were really surprised to see a funny yet weirdly entertaining political advertisement from
Senator Mar Roxas. There’s him with his famous Padyak, complete with the young kid on the side car. The Padyak is moving forward and you’re prompted to click on it multiple times to make it go faster. Then you crush a bunch of rocks labeled corruption and you’re finally led to the final banner which you can see in the screenshot above.
Just some thoughts. First, I don’t really agree with the “Padyak” concept but it’s good to note that they’ve really been consistent. That’s what’s being shown in TV and that’s what they’re also using online. I also heard that they’re even raffling away “Padyaks” during political sorties in provinces.
My only beef here is that it’s not clear what they want to happen with the advertisement. It says there join us now and the URL of Senator Roxas’ site is prominently displayed. If you go to the site, there are so many things being promoted there that you don’t really know where to click. If you go to the upper right hand corner where it says join us, you’re led to another registration page for Friends of Mar. Then what?
If this is a registration drive, I strongly suggest they come up with a landing page that explains the following briefly and a bit direct-to-the-point:
1. Why should we sign up?
2. What do we get for signing up?
3. E-mail address and other pertinent information (less the better at first if they’re after volume)
This should also be the case for campaigns for corporations or SME’s. You have to keep the message simple and direct-to-the-point. Align it with your objective always.
