Jamby Madrigal Defiles Cory Aquino Memorial Service

My good friend sent me an e-mail with a blog post from a Facebook user named Happy Feraren. While she was waiting for President Cory Aquino’s cortege, she and her Mom decided to buy a yellow umbrella. They were then given a yellow beaded bracelet afterwards for free. However, when they looked closer at the bracelet, it had the picture of Senator Jamby Madrigal, who recently declared her intention to run for the Presidency in 2010. Senator Madrigal, with all due respect, I think you’ve crossed the line with your politicking. Giving away campaign materials during the memorial service of former President Aquino is just foul and disrespectful. Here’s a picture of the supposed Jamby Madrigal Bracelet:

Now that we’ve remembered, relived and recreated the spirit of ’86 let’s make sure this yellow ribbon doesn’t get tangled up in other people’s political campaigns.
Subtle electioneering IN A FUNERAL?!?! SHAME ON YOU. Do not ride on Cory’s wave to pursue your vested interest. The people who waited in the streets weren’t there to see you! The revolution doesn’t belong to you, phony politician, it belongs to the people. And what makes you think you could get away with such a dirty trick? Cory’s lasting impression of sincerity, humility and honesty is now the benchmark of what leaders are supposed to be. You think people don’t see through you? The respect we have for Cory is not something you acquire with falsity (or through endorsement from Judy Ann Santos) it is earned. How dare you pose as someone offering sympathy to the Aquino family while you think about the votes you’re going to get come election time.
As I waited for the cortege (news networks’ new favourite word) along the South Super Highway, my mom and I bought 2 yellow umbrellas from this street vendor who was also selling nuts. And then as we paid, he pulled out something from his pocket – a yellow beaded bracelet nicely packed in a small clear plastic bag. Upon handing it over to us, he said: “Eto o, bonus para sa inyo.”Of course my mom and I were pleased and were all “awww how sweet.”Until I actually looked at the bracelet and saw a little tag with the name and photo of Jamby Madrigal.
I called out to him and asked, “O bakit may Jamby Madrigal itong bracelet na ito” and when I looked at the vendor for an answer he had already walked away.
Maybe an hour before this incident, I saw her car passing by the growing sea of people. Window open, flashing the L sign and strangely enough, a cameraman in front filming the people. My mom started shouting “Transparencyyyy!” and then I looked at her asking if I could put up my middle finger and my mom looked at me and said I should just shout transparency, accountability or good governance. In other words “BOOOOOOOO!!!!” And then the two of us just started shouting BOO JAMBY!!!
I am utterly disgusted by you, Ms.Madrigal. And to you other filthy politicians, behave yourselves because we are all watching you, even if you’re supposedly Cory’s “favorite” mayor. Genuine democracy is People Power and everything Ninoy and Cory stood for. It also means that now, whenever there’s a phony claiming he or she is there to protect Cory’s legacy, we will be able to speak up and act with the same fearless fervour we had before.
You know sometimes I wish I could march in the government offices with a magical broom that can sweep away all the dirty politicians we have in this country. A giant clean up, but this time not just for the environment but for our government. Haha, imagine if we could really do that? I’m already writing down the names of the people I’d attack first with my magic walis!
So, before you file for candidacy (a bit too late though in this case) think again. Actually, good luck! The people have remembered.

Senator Madrigal, if memory serves me right, there were close to 300,000 people during Cory’s memorial service. By spitting at her memory by campaigning, you just lost 300,000 votes for 2010. I’m sure you will lose millions more when this piece of information spreads out to the general public. This Jamby Madrigal Bracelet fiasco is something that I just can’t stomach.

Jamby for President? You’re joking of course. Come to think of it – she’s in good company – with wanabes: Binay who ‘inherited’ millions from his impoverished parents. Loren whose burning ambition has become so pathetic.
Cheez who believes all he has to do to be elected President is to spit out venon against GMA. Mar Roxas? and have Korina & ABS-CBN at the forefront? Then there’s Estrada — are we Filipinos really that forgiving and forgetful?!

Not that I’m demeaning the National Artist Awards but…
Iyon na nga lang dadayain pa ng gobyerno?
By this shameless and downright evil act, not only has the GMA government mocked the highest achievement a Filipino artist can achieve in his/her own country, they have also made certain that Carlo J. Caparas and the other winners of the award will all go down in history as “unworthy”.
Yes, they have the trophies and the title. But in a thousand years, newspaper articles and blogs/comments such as this one will doubtless still be around to tell the truth.
If GMA’s cronies in Malacanang (and out of it) can do this to the National Artist Awards, what do you think can they do to the upcoming 2010 Elections and all succeeding elections from then on?
Let me say this, though. Cory Aquino said that you don’t have to be in a high position in government to serve the people. Service to the Filipino is done until you go to your grave. Here’s another way of looking at it. Just because you’re no longer in power doesn’t mean you can’t do evil things to subvert democracy and honesty in government. Let this be a warning to those not only visible as supposed leaders of the nation but to those invisible devils working behind the scenes for them.
Let us try to join and be active in AKO MISMO to encourage the youngs to register and go to the polls in May 2010.

From the very beginning I don’t like her, but what can we do? Up to now we have a lot of FILIPINO VOTERS who voted because of popularity. Sana magkaroon ng maraming pilipinong mapagmatyag sa mga kalidad at intigridad ng mga pilipinong politiko. Kung ayaw nating maghirap pang lubos maghanap tayo ng mga taong mayroong mga katangiang ala CORY AT NINOY AQUINO. Kung hindi man lubos sana kahit kaunti man lang.
I am still hoping that the Filipino voters will be wise now for these coming election so that there will be no more JAMBY MADRIGAL will elected again. GISING NA ANG PILIPINO.

your observation is well taken. but sometimes to be careful, one must have a second look. i think there must be justice and fairness in what you observed. in my idea, and opinion, jamby would not do such foolish things that way. am sure her detractors did that as you know as election season comes in, often politicians do that kind of trick and as many times as before. in fact some even did fake ambush. please be objective and fair. thanks.

I salute you Ms. Feraren! Thank you for the courage for speaking out! I agree with everything you have said. I am so pleased to know that you and others are not afraid to speak your piece. This is what is needed in the Philippine government. That is the democracy.
I left the country 43 years ago because I am disgusted with the corruptions with politicians who think that they can buy out votes to get into politics. I still love the Philippines. I am coming back to understand the “improvements” in the governance of the country. I will do whatever I can to help.
If this is true, Jamby must be dreaming! Politicians are all taking advantage at the death of Cory. They think that when seen by the people at the wake of Cory they will win. A big NO! Filipinos are all watching you and we know whats your real color and your true intentions. GISING PILIPINO! We should continue the legacy that Cory and Ninoy fight for us.

Cory was the most useless president in history. Worse than ERAP. Did we all forget what Peter Parker said? With great power comes great responsibility. She took the power without the responsibility. She made philippines poor like hell. Hell yeah someone else should have took over Marcos. But sorry to say it was stupid that someone like Cory did it. Thanks for the freedom but nothanks to your stupid good for nothing presidency. She should have stepped down the moment she stepped up. I don’t even agree with calling her a hero. To me just another brainless president similar to Gloria except no power hunger involved.
Personally, I think Jamby’s detractors wouldnt even take such effort to produce bracelets and print Jamby’s face on it. Have you noticed the sincerity and solemness of the activity? Only selfish people would do something stupid like to campaign. And yes, lets all be objective and fair. We should know what and what not to believe. There’s so much time wasted already.

Mr.FRANZ SCHLUETER, if you cannot say anything good about a dead person, please just keep your mouth shut. That is the way we Filipinos are trained by our parents. Respect the dead, whether they are good or bad. I hope no one says the same thing to you when you are gone. Ever heard of the phrase “the golden rule?”
That guy Franz Schlueter had some good points but for God’s sake the person’s DEAD, give some respect man. Sure pres. Cory might not be the best but she certainly isn’t close to the worst; there are other presidents who are far more failures than her.

Sen jamby madrigal s a good senator and public servant,it is clear that she was not the one who gave the bracelet but the vendor.she is pro children and pro people.she is also a defender of women.everyone can be a president. a corrupt was a given a chance to serve as president and why not jamby who has no record of corruption.

As if you do not know it yet, she will do everything just to get media mileage. Remember how she went to town suing her Tita Chito for not remembering her in her will? She is really one of a kind….and now she uses Tita Cory’s memory to advance her own agenda.
Shame on her is too mild a reaction. Please, if there is something out there more violent than this reaction, kindly just spread it out to the whole world. This woman does not deserve an iota of respect from me.

It’s okay. Different people have different points in life. This is the real life. Taking work to the emotionally level. I am referring to her work as president is terrible. Her life as a person might be something else though. I have not met her and she might as well be a good mother or housewife (This is a different story). But in tagalog. “Walang personalan, trabaho lang”.
Sorry for my stupid english but believe me it’s better than the average filipino. And yes my family name may seem strange but I am also a Filipino citizen like you and with voters ID btw. Not to mention that I have spent a hell lot of taxes for this country already including family and this of course includes you as well.
And of course I’d do it also the filipino way and respect my parents but if my parents would be responsible of making millions of people suffer, I’d think twice!
