Is the iPhone 4 the blogger’s dream phone?

The iPhone 4 was officially announced by Steve Jobs during the WWDC Keynote a few hours ago. I’ve been going through the features again this morning and I can’t help but keep thinking how great this phone will be for bloggers. The problem with being a multi-media kind of blogger is that you have to bring a lot of stuff wherever you go. Pair the iPhone 4 with the iPad and you’re good to blog/cover pretty much anywhere, anytime. Details after the break.

iPhone 4 Camera
The iPhone 4′s camera is definitely not as good as a DLSR but it’s a great substitute. The 5MP, 5X zoom, LED flash, and tap to focus specs of the camera is not too shabby for taking pictures. The camera can also record HD video at 720P/30FPS. Just buy some sort of iPhone 4 tripod or stand and you’re already good to go with recording podcasts and vlogs.

Get the 32GB iPhone 4 model and storage for the media you’re going to take won’t be too much of a problem.

iPhone 4 Apps
Another great thing about the iPhone 4 are the apps. There are a lot of photo editing apps already available that won’t necessarily replace Photoshop but it can do most of the basic photo enhancing that you need. In the WWDC Keynote, Apple also announced a new iMovie app for the iPhone and it’s gorgeous. Other than just capturing media, your iPhone 4 will also function as your editing machine!

As for typing up your blog entries, the iPhone has a WordPress app but I find the screen real estate a bit small for blogging. That’s why I still think the iPad will still play a big role in mobile blogging.

My only concern right now with the iPhone 4 is the battery life. I’m not too sure that you can do all of the things Jobs shared and not run out of battery in the middle of the day. For this we’ll have to wait for a hands on review from anyone who can get their hands on the iPhone 4.
