iPhone 4 Otterbox Defender Case Review

I’ve tried several cases already for the iPhone 4 and I’ve narrowed down my favorites to two cases. The first is all about protection and keeping the iPhone 4 safe and well protected. In the security department, the Otterbox Defender case for the iPhone 4 is one of the best in the field. The Otterbox Defender is a three-layered cover that almost turns your iPhone 4 into a defensive brick.

The Otterbox Defender has four components: the front case, back case, rubber skin, and the belt clip. When you combine all four it provides insane protection for your gadget.

The front case of the Otterbox Defender iPhone 4 case has a touch screen membrane which functions already as your screen protector. You won’t need to apply a separate screen protector. It’s fingerprint resistant and almost acts as if there’s nothing there. You rarely see this in iPhone cases out in the market.

The back cover is made of the same solid material of the front case except that it’s all solid. There’s a hole for the camera and the Apple logo which is covered by plastic (but you still see the Apple logo). There’s also a soft inner felt liner to cushion the iPhone 4 when it’s inside.

After the cases there’s still the textured silicone exterior. You put this over the two cases for added protection against impact and it also gives better grip. It has latches which you can open to access the dock, earphones, and the lock/unlock button. It also covers the iPhone home and volume buttons to keep them safe as well.

Last, but definitely not the least, we have the belt clip. It’s a holster which can hold the iPhone either face-in or face-out. If you put the iPhone face-in that’s the ultimate protection for your gadget! The clip also works as a hands-free stand for watching videos.

To get a better idea of the entire Otterbox Defender Case for the iPhone 4, here’s a video on how to assemble everything:

Personally I believe that if you’re looking for protection the Otterbox Defender is your best option. The only disadvantage is that it makes the phone a bit bulky and you won’t be able to differentiate if you’re carrying an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 3GS. If you consider though that the iPhone 4 costs over 30,000 pesos then you might want to prioritize the well-being of your device.

The Otterbox Defender is currently available at Game Stop. I got mine from their Park Square branch for P2800. Otterbox Defender is also available for other gadgets like the iPhone 3GS/3G, BlackBerry Bold, and even the iPad. :)

    • I highly recommend this product… especially since iPhone 4′s are said to be more breakable compared to the 3G or 3GS models x.x

        Hello Carlo.

All Game Stop branches are out of stock of the Otterbox Defender =(.

Do you know any other stores that sell these?

  2. Even the one in the Park Square branch? That’s where I got mine. Sadly I don’t know of any other store who carries the iPhone 4 Otterbox case. I know Digital Hub carries Otterbox for the iPad though. :/

Does it prevent antenna contact (aren’t you having problems with internet surfing)? And do you think it’d fit iphone 4s? Thank you.:)
