It looks like the iPad Philippines price will be around 37,000+ pesos. It’s roughly 10,000 pesos more than the original price in the United States ($499). If you convert the original price, the iPad should only be 25,000 pesos for the base model. According to iStudio, they still don’t know the exact date it will be available on their shelves but it will probably take 1-2 more months since the iPad has to be cleared by the NTC since it will need to have a sim card. There’s no official announcement yet but I’m guessing that the iPad will also be sold by Globe since they’re the ones who have the exclusive rights to sell the iPhone here in the Philippines.
iPad Experience
I was able to get a quick hands on experience with the iPad during the recent Easter Tweet Up held at the National Sports Grill in Greenbelt. Bar top notcher Yves Gonzales brought with him his iPad and it actually went around several tables so that people could try it out. Without a doubt the iPad is one of the sexiest gadgets ever made. Apple really did a good job with the user interface and I really wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Filipinos who can afford to get this will end up buying one.
I’m still having a raging internal debate if I should get one or not but I have a feeling that it’s better to wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation iPad since Apple has a habit of making their 1st generation products obsolete when they come up with the next upgrades.
