Jayvee Fernandez is currently covering the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and he’s been giving terrific updates via Twitter and his blog. One of the big announcements that was made was from Smart Communications. They’ll be launching a smartphone called the Netphone. It will be powered with Android 2.2 Froyo OS and Wholesale Applications Community (WAC). Go to Jayvee’s blog for more info on the WAC.

No announcement yet on price or actual date of availability. However the press release does state that Smart is aiming to make this a budget-friendly phone (competitive price).
