It’s amazing how some entrepreneurs come up with creative value added services that they can offer their customers. You usually see this in retail companies especially in the food industry (upgrades, value meals, etc). What surprised me though was how a particular open parking lot service in Ortigas across SM Mega Mall was able to come up with a fascinating offering.
When you say “parking lot” services you’ll probably think of the usual car cleaning and waxing that’s regularly offered in mall parking lots. You know the ones that cost an arm and a leg in Ayala Malls (lol). SECURE Parking (name of the business) offers something different. For an additional P20, you can get a parking slot near the entrance that has a “premium” car cover and dedicated security. More than the car cover the prime parking spot offers a lot of conveniece especially now that we’re entering the Holiday season here in the Philippines. It’s almost next to impossible to quickly get good parking in SM Mega Mall these days especially during weekends. This is almost as convenient as vallet but a little more affordable.

But…
While this all sounds peachy we actually regretted going to this particular lot. It rained when we parked there and when we went out to get the car the place was muddy. That totally destroyed the experience. This just goes to show that if your core product isn’t up to par whatever you add on top of it will just go to waste.



I like what you said “This just goes to show that if your core product isn’t up to par whatever you add on top of it will just go to waste.” To paraphrase is a bit, if the basic priority value of the customer is not satisfied, then whatever value added perks given will not suffice.

My favorite example is my boss’ advice to me:
If asked for blueberry pancakes in 15 minutes, never mind about the extra bacon you want to add on the side if it’ll take you 20 minutes.
that great, this is only another value added service wish not to build a ceiling to totally solve it rather than purchase so much car protection to borrow to customers.But such innovative strategy will attract customers because it different with other parking lot.
Got a suggestion to these parking place which provide umbrella borrow to customers when rain.
