Here’s part 2 of the three-part series on the IMMAP Open Mic Night (Pecha Kucha) Coverage. If you haven’t read the first article yet, please click here. The first entry talked about the insights I picked up from Jayvee, Anna, Jay, Andre, and Chay. This entry has the second set of speakers. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to listen to the last set. Anyway, on to the speakers!
Coy Caballes on Screwing Viral
It was my first time to watch Coy deliver a presentation and I was definitely impressed! I loved his energy and his overflowing passion for social media. There were also several gems in his presentation that Digital Marketers could have picked up. His best line for me that night was “screw viral, get your content right!” I couldn’t agree more!
Let go and let God! Right Coy?
Brian Tenorio on Seduction Strategy
As soon as Brian’s presentation started I felt as if he put the entire room in a trance. Everybody’s attention was on him and you can literally see the crowd eat up all of the words coming out of his mouth. I don’t know if it was how he spoke, his topic, or his tantalizing slides (probably a combination of all of the above).
His presentation is an example also of how you can learn so much about your craft listening to others talk about theirs. The design principles he presented can definitely work with digital. His “seduction strategy” can also be applied for businesses on social media. Two thumbs up. Another of my favorite talks for the evening.
Patrick Cuartero on being compelling and doing cool yoyo tricks
If ever there’s another Pecha Kucha night I hope they invite Patrick again but this time please focus on the Yoyos! Hahaha! When Patrick talked about Groupon I phased out because it felt like a pitch but when he talked about Yoyos he was definitely in the zone. Really excited to hear him speak again in the future.
Ricky Baizas talks about Digital being Michael Jackson
Ricky is probably one of the best speakers on digital marketing that I’ve seen in a long while. Not only does he have good presentation skills but he also has a lot of great insights to share. His topic that night was all about getting your boss (or whoever) to get into digital marketing and you definitely need guts to follow his “Do it and say sorry later” attitude. From personal experience though I’d have to say he’s correct. There are times that you really have to put everything in the line especially if you really believe in a campaign that you’re pushing for.
Oh, and I love the Michael Jackson analogy to Digital Marketing. Good one Ricky!
Nasser Lubay on Visual Art
I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of what I call “funky art” but Nasser got me intrigued. He first talked about his inspirations and how he wanted to create his own visual language. He wanted to create his unique style of art. Imagine if you can translate that to web design? If there was one really good web designer who had a unique but effective style then he’ll probably be raking in millions. Kinda like being the Jason Magbanua of web design.
Anyway, I wanted to hear more from Nasser. It was too bad time ran out before he could finish!
Part 3 coming Saturday night
Tonight I’ll upload the last entry which is a video of my presentation. I just have to get it out of my camera and upload it on Youtube, lol. Cheers everyone! Hope you all have a good weekend!

Thanks Carlo!!!
