As most of you have probably noticed, I’ve been on a pretty long blogging break. The reason behind this is I’ve been busy preparing for my wedding/engagement proposal to my girlfriend of almost 9 years. Last Sunday I finally proposed and it definitely was one of the most memorable and special moments in my life. I did it in public during our Sunday service at Victory Greenhills. Mich said yes and I’m now officially “engaged”! Fortunately a lot of people took pictures and videos and I wanted to share them with all of you now.
Here’s the complete proposal caught on video starting with our Pastor introducing me as a speaker to discuss the new Victory Greenhills website. After talking about the site, I showed a surprise video and then came out and popped the big question to Mich who was sitting in the audience.
In case you had a hard time watching the surprise video, here’s the complete vid which is now uploaded on Youtube:
And to answer why I decided to use “Falling Slowly” as the song, here’s a post that I made on Facebook. It also pretty much summarizes why I wanted to propose in the first place:
I wanted to write and publish this online because I didn’t get the chance to explain why we decided to use the song “Falling Slowly” during the proposal last Sunday. Personally the song has so much meaning for me and I’d like to share it with everyone.
The song wasn’t dedicated to Mich and it wasn’t even about me.
As most of you know, Mich and I have been together for almost 9 years. It’s been one emotional roller coaster ride for us. We’ve had so many ups and downs and we’ve almost called it quits on several occasions. However, the moment we finally accepted Christ and put God in our relationship, everything changed. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING.
I found out what it takes to be a real man – biblically and not culturally. This is the result of hours of talks with Bu and Atty. Ryan Tan and the rest of our men’s small group. Both of whom I consider my good friends, peers, and mentors in Victory.
I became conscious of my weight, and I wanted to make myself better for her. April and Alden provided me with so much motivation.
We found a way to settle our differences. It wasn’t anymore about if she’s right or I’m right, it’s about God’s standard. Having the small group with Pastor Dennis with the rest of the couples was such a huge blessing and inspiration for the both of us.
We both began to manage our finances much better – especially thanks to Randell and Pastor Chinkee. Mich even got a scholarship for RFP! Haha!

Our love for our own families were ignited again by seeing how the other families in church treated each other. This was a difficult challenge for me but I’m starting to finally get it.
Oh, I just have to say this but I don’t know if this sounds right, haha! Mich’s love for God right now is absolutely the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen in a woman. It’s the world’s greatest paradox. I’m madly in love with a woman who’s madly in love with another man (haha).
The song Falling Slowly is about how God courted me and Mich for the past 9 years. It’s about how he kept on making offers but we kept on ignoring him. It’s about how he’s been so faithful to us despite all of our misgivings and failures. It’s about how victorious we finally became when we accepted him into our lives and into our relationship.
I know that there will be more challenges along the way but God is bigger than any problem out there.
To all of you reading this, thank you so much for being such a blessing.

“the moment we finally accepted Christ and put God in our relationship, everything changed. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING.”
this is where we divide the line.
it is very heartwarming to hear stories like this. it really is a very great turning point whenever we choose to accept Him and allow Him to take full control of our relationships.
Congratulations, Brother!
i was soooo moved! you finally did it! well, no doubt you would, when you were telling us during the prsp seminar at intercon… you were sincere.
