Though I was late, I was still able to make it to the iBlog 5 Saturday afternoon. I feel bad that I missed all the speakers in the morning but at least I was able to hear almost everyone during the afternoon sessions. First things first though, let me give a shout out to the event organizer, Ms. Janette Toral. You did a good job and the venue could barely contain all the attendees this year! I’d also like to thank all the speakers who took time out from their busy schedules so that they could prepare presentations and deliver them during iBlog 5.
To make this post more thematic, I’ll zero in on 2 good reasons why people should go to the next iBlog Summit.
1. Networking
It was fun meeting and talking to all the bloggers that were there. Here’s a quick list of some of the bloggers that I was able to spot and chat with for a bit. If you’re not in the list and I met you and chatted with you during the event, please leave a comment to refresh my memory so I can give some link love.
Noemi from About My Recovery
Mike Abundo from the Mike Abundo Effect
Jayvee Fernandez from A Bugged Life
Anton Diaz from Our Awesome Planet
Sonnie Santos from Sonnie’s Porch
Azrael from Azrael’s Merryland
Fitz from Ready to Be Rich
Juned from Baratillo
Edwin Soriano from Technobiography
Jehzlau from Jehzlau’s Concepts
The crew from PATAY GUTOM dot COM (LOL)
JC Cuneta from Gameshogun
Marcelle from Mister Vader
Tonyo Cruz from Tonyocruzdotcom
Anyway, meeting new people is really fun. Now I can place faces behind the blogs that I read.
2. The Speakers

I enjoyed listening to almost all of the speakers who gave talks in the afternoon. My favorites would be: the cool dude from COMELEC – Director James Jimenez, dude with no presentation but he still had a lot of good insights Jayvee Fernandez, and the last two speakers Fitz and Anton. I have a lot of thoughts that can be made into blog posts about the presentations of the speakers I mentioned. I’ll make it a point to write more about this in the coming days.
You really can learn a lot from the speakers. I was taking down some notes myself on how to improve New Media Philippines and hopefully I can apply those changes soon. I kinda felt awkward though since some speakers and people who asked questions referred to me several times – mostly on political blogging and the PGB incident. It’s all cool though. I even had a picture taken with the bloggers from PatayGutom dot Com, hehe.
Recommendations for the Organizers for iBlog 6
No post event coverage would be complete unless we point out what things to improve on for next year. I just have 2 major comments. First, we should try to get a bigger venue for iBlog 6! I know that there were still some seats open but it was really hard to move around. Next, I suggest that the organizers try to get less speakers so that we can have more time for the forum. A lot of people had questions but they weren’t able to ask it because of the time constraints. Janette, I can volunteer and help you organize next year’s event if you like.
That’s it! I’ll definitely make it a point to be at iBlog 6. Thank you again to the organizers and volunteers from the UP College of Law Internet and Society Program. You guysmade this year’s iBlog 5 memorable and successful. You guys rock and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. More posts on my thoughts on what the speakers had to say in the coming days.
Author’s Note: Suggest you guys read my latest post as well which is based from the iBlog5 speakers – Blogger Evolution and 4 Types of Bloggers (iBlog5)

iBlog’s organizers are UP College of Law Internet and Society Program and Janette

Hope to be able to talk to you soon hehe sali kayo sa Patay Gutom adventure namin once LOL
Saw you there Carlo!
Hello Carlo. I very much appreciate the feedback. We did not expect the event to be jampacked this year. (that made the venue look small)
Next year, definitely, we will look for a bigger venue. For the topics, with the growing crowd, we will likely do breakouts for iBlog6.
The offer is very much appreciated. I’ll hook up with you once we are on the planning stage. Cheers!
Great idea, Janette! iBlog5 was very newbie-friendly, but experienced bloggers will want to get deep into the latest trends, tools, and techniques.
i was there.
my moral lesson. i should be adding an extension cord to my list of laptop accessories.
nice to see you there. i was not able to chat with you, though.
There’s a lot of coolness out there!
