In a day, how many potential customers do you think type in the name of your service on Google to check experiences of existing or former customers? I’m pretty sure a lot since search engine traffic is one of the biggest sources of traffic for any website – be it personal or corporate. As most of you know, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my PLDT MyDSL connection here at home. It took them 3 months to install and they still made a lot of mistakes while trying to set it up. To see if other people had the same problem as I did, I typed in “PLDT dsl” on the Google search bar. Check out the results after the break.
And there you have it. A good case study of how SEO can kill or maim your brand. After the first two entries, all the other results are negative reviews of the product. As you can see in the list, top bloggers from the Philippines are complaining on the connection that they’re getting from PLDT. In fact, we have the
Pinoy Tech Blog and
Yugatech on the first page. Both of who are very influential in the realm of the telecommunications industry.
Imagine if the growth of Filipino internet users continues in the next few years. Search Marketing will become one of the hottest forms of online marketing because it directly impacts your brand perception and positioning. Imagine claiming in your ads that you have the fastest speed and yet all the results in Google say otherwise?

This is so true.
A simple rant by a blogger with fair SEO skills can hurt your business image. This shows the utmost importance of a good customer service.
And to cite another example, try Googling, “Cebu Pacific”
negative SEO, keyword bastardization. it surely can hurt one’s business. i had a post abut it many months ago.
