One of the problems why e-commerce isn’t flying yet here in the Philippines is because of the low credit card penetration. A lot of Filipinos are checking out selling sites but they don’t have the proper means to be able to do transactions. The other alternatives are too time consuming and takes too much effort like going to a bank to do a deposit. That’s why I was really excited to find out that Globe launched a new e-commerce service called GCASH Click. It’s basically an online payment facility that uses mobile as the primary method of payment and it also has pick-up and delivery service. It also protects the buyer because Globe will only release payment after the buyer has received and checked the item. A few more notes about this after the break.
For Sellers/Merchants
I’d love to test this system but I have to buy a Globe SIM first. This is the first time I’m actually going to buy a SIM outside of SMART. Anyway, from what I’ve read, all you have to do is to register and then get the HTML code and slap it into your site.
My only problem with this system is that buyers will have to go to Globe Business Centers just to convert their money to GCASH. It’s just like asking someone to go to the bank to deposit their payment for your item. This limits your market to existing GCASH users. Other than going to business centers, people can also convert to accredited partners in malls or through their Bancnet ATM.
The moment Globe allows direct transfer of pre-paid load to GCASH, then that would be something and truly revolutionary. In fact, they should consider this and just slap a transaction fee so that they still make money.
For more information on GCASH, you can visit their website.
Here’s how the GCASH Click thing works based on their website:
How does GCASH Click work?
Sign-in or Register
1. When ready to purchase an item from any Philippine online shopping site, log in to the GCASH CLICK site for payment.
2. Make sure that your Globe or TM mobile phone is registered to GCASH and your GCASH wallet is funded for a hassle-free shopping experience.
3. If you are new to the site, register for free to GCASH CLICK and accept the Terms & Conditions for faster payment of your online purchases.
4. Log on to your GCASH CLICK account
Buy or Sell
1. Fill up the BUYER’s portion of the order form and click “submit”
2. Your SELLER will receive an SMS and email notification on you purchase offer. SELLER logs on to GCASH CLICK and completes the SELLER’s portion the order form and is submitted to you for confirmation.
3. You will receive an SMS and email notification requesting you to confirm all transaction details in the GCASH CLICK site.
4. GCASH CLICK sends you an SMS to debit your payment from your GCASH wallet by replying with your MPIN.
5. GCASH CLICK temporarily holds the payment to reduce potential risks and fraud. GCASH CLICK disburses the payment to the SELLER upon BUYER’s inspection and acceptance of the item.
6. Delbros picks-up item from the SELLER and schedules delivery to your doorstep. Payment is released to your SELLER once you have received, inspected and accepted the item.
And there you have it. I’ll try installing it in some of the e-commerce sites of my friends and clients and see how it goes. I’ll give a more comprehensive review once I get to try it.
Kudos to Globe for the effort! Hopefully they can consider the suggestion of converting Globe prepaid to GCASH sometime in the future.

ok din ito.
secure online shopping pa.
maybe in the next coming months…ok na ito sa mga online sellers and buyers.. and marami na din gagamit
problem kasi sa mga ibang sellers… medyo hassle daw.
Heya Az,
Thanks for the comment. Try using it for your online shirt business!
i agree — there’s a ‘missing link’ in the online payment for local online stores.
If this is the case about Gcash then there is no difference to bank deposit payment
