GLEE SEASON 2 EPISODE 2 BRITNEY SPEARS PROMO

Twitter is playing a big role now in television consumption. Britney Spears and Charice were both trending during the actual telecast as well as after. This means that people were sharing their thoughts about the episode real time. It’s like getting an instant review, critique, or endorsement from the viewers to their own personal networks. It’s literally like supercharged word-of-mouth marketing on insane levels of steroids!

Media outfits here in the Philippines should capitalize on this trend because Filipinos are considered to be one of the most active Twitter users in the world. Note though that even the best social media strategy will fail if the product or content is not compelling enough. In fact, it might even backfire. Glee is getting phenomenal benefits from social media mainly because their episodes are really innovative, entertaining, and sometimes bordering on the outrageous.

True…social media is new and an incredible market. People especially those in marketing and sales must capitalize this media. Although the number of people who have access to Internet is not that big..but it is growing….you can find a niche or a certain demographic of people you can reach to target and gain as customers.

  2. All I can say is WOW! Definitely our local TV shows are not that innovative. In fact, they have become predictable.

I totally agree. The stations should realize that recycling the same plots for decades is really intellectually boring.

GLEE is really getting its FREE publicity regarding its next episode. Thanks to the twitter guy Jack Dorsey, people nowadays, especially the Glee market are always tuned ONLINE. Where else can you find the latest, freshest news bit? Internet.

It’s no wonder how tweets can do wonders not only to GLEE but to other personalities as well. Thanks to GLEE, Britney fever is now back as usual, as if nothing happened.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if this Glee episode will be responsible for single handedly re-launching Britney Spears’ career.

I’m guessing a lot of Filipinos tune in just to see Charice. But then again Glee is already a popular series to begin with. Social Media just amplifies the great product.

    • Spot on. If the product sucks, social media will amplify the fact that it does suck, lol.

  5. Guess what. The Charice episode was the very first EVER Glee episode I watched from beginning to end. That’s how out of the loop I was! But I enjoyed it and went on to watch Episode 2 (the Britney/Brittany one) and also enjoyed it. So yes, I think it’s something I will follow from now on. Why was I even motivated to watch the Charice episode in the first place? Messages from friends on Plurk and Twitter, that’s why. LOL!
