Foursquare Marketing in the Philippines

How should brands use Foursquare to reach out to more customers? Here’s a good example of a restaurant operating in the Philippines using Foursquare Specials. I went to Pancake House in Bonifacio High Street the other day for a lunch meeting. While waiting for my colleague to arrive for our meeting I decided to check-in Foursquare. Here’s what came up on my screen:

Notice the yellow sign on the upper righthand corner saying SPECIAL NEARBY? I clicked on it and it led me to this page:

While this method might not draw in massive numbers of customers there’s a huge chance that the effect will scale significantly once more FIlipinos have access to smartphones. With the impending launch of really affordable phones like the Smart Netphone, it’s only a matter of time before mobile-based marketing becomes a viable and effective channel for local brands.
