Remember the article last March 31 that said that Facebook *might* replace the fans of Official Pages and change it to “likes”? Well, it finally happened. I was checking several official pages of candidates and brands this morning and I no longer saw fans but only people who “liked” the product, person, or whatever. Here’s a screenshot for of Senator Manny Villar’s Official Page:

You can’t also see anymore all the people who liked the official page. There’s a random sample displayed but you can’t click to see more. You’ll only be able to bring up a pop-up with the pictures and profiles of your friends who “liked” the official page. This is probably related to the privacy upgrades that Facebook is reportedly trying to implement.
Here are some of the more interesting notes in the FAQ that they released:
Profile connections
What are connections?
Connections include the people and Pages you’re connected to on Facebook. Making connections is the main way to express yourself on your profile. Facebook enables you to connect with virtually anyone or anything, from your friends and family to the city you live in to your favorite bands and movies.http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=17128
How does connecting my interests to Pages affect the content on my profile?
With the introduction of Community Pages, connecting to Pages will now be the main way to express yourself on your profile. If you have previously filled out fields for current city, hometown, education, work and interests, then you will have the opportunity to connect to Pages that we’ve matched to the information you’ve filled out. No new connections will be made on your behalf and sections of your profile where you don’t want to make any connections will be empty. You will always have the opportunity to build out your profile later by clicking “Edit My Profile” underneath your profile picture or by Liking the Pages that interest you.http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=17123
How are Pages displayed on my profile?
When you Like a Page, it will be organized on your profile depending on the category of the Page, such as “Music” and “Movies.” By clicking “Edit Profile” you can customize the order in which Pages appear on your profile. You can even move some Pages behind a “See all” link, so that you can still connect to Pages without displaying all of them prominently on your profile.http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=17124
Some of my Pages have been misclassified. How do I change them?
If your Pages have been misclassified in your profile (e.g., a book has been categorized under “Movies”) you can simply make the correction by editing the appropriate sections of your profile.http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=17125
How do I edit the “Likes and Interests” field on my profile?
To edit your “Likes and Interests” field, first click “Edit My Profile” underneath your profile picture. Then, select “Likes and Interests” from the left column menu.To add items, just begin typing them into the appropriate field and select one of the suggestions in the drop-down that appears. To reorganize how items will appear on your profile, you can drag and drop them as you please. To delete an item, you’ll need to go directly to the item’s Page and click the “Unlike” link in the lower left-hand column of the Page.
Interesting. It looks like Facebook wants to make Pages more personal and integrated into everyone’s profiles. I’ll be checking out all the official pages that we handle for our clients and I’ll let you guys know if there are any major changes or differences compared to the previous build.
