Did this convert to higher earnings? In my experience, Link Units definitely increase my CTR, but they never increased my earnings. In the end, I removed all my Link Units and replaced them with Text Ads.

One thing to increase your overall earnings though is to add affiliate links. Good thing about this is that instead of earning from adsense (ex.1USD per click)you earn more by cutting adsense as middle man and earning direct from the offer around (2-3usd)

Bad thing about link ad units is that you dont earn when a visitor clicks on the unit but only after they click on the ads displayed on the page. In short you earn after two clicks not like a text ad unit you get paid after the first click.
