I’ve been shopping around for iPad accessories and cases and the prices are crazy. When the iPad first became available in the gray market, generic silicon back covers were being sold for P1500. After a few weeks though the price went down as more and more vendors started to carry them. Now you can actually get a decent silicon back cover for P300-P400 in the “tiangge” section of Vmall in Greenhills (where they sell second hand phones). The case that I really want though is the original Apple iPad folio but it’s really not available here and it’s even out of stock in the US. My auntie is actually in LA right now and she just told me that the Apple store there had a waiting list for the folio cases. The available alternative is a leather folio faux case which was being originally offered by Infomax for P2,500 at Theater Mall. I was about to get one until I found this spectacular deal in Vmall!
I found the exact case (though color brown instead of black) being sold in the Vmall tiangge area. I was expecting the vendor to say that it cost around P1,500 but imagine my surprise when she told me that she was selling it only for P450! Normally I’d haggle down the price since I was in the tiangge but I was so happy to find a case below 500 that I immediately forked over the cash and even gave her a tip, lol. Here’s a picture of the case with the iPad on it.
Loving it! I’ll probably stick with this until the original Apple Folio becomes available locally at a reasonable price. Heard that some people are selling it for P5000-P6000 (yikes).

Haha nice find Carlo! Dapat tinawaran mo pa baka mababa mo pa sa 300 yan! Haha!
Anyway, so do you recommend getting your iPad accessories via online instead? Some of the people I know with iPads would rather order them online and have them shipped over because it’ll be cheaper overall, especially the more expensive add ons like the car dock, etc.
And as an added question… may nagbebenta na ba ng second hand na iPad this early? Yung mura lang? Hahaha!
Hey bro,
I actually bought cases already online for my iPad (SwitchEasy back cover). Got it 3 days after paying for it online. I think the only problem is that you have to pay for taxes when the cost is above $50? Haven’t tried purchasing anything above that price yet.
From what I heard, Digital Hub, A Store, and a bunch of other Mac product sellers will be selling iPad accessories in their branches starting end of next week.
Re: Second Hand, check out the philMUG forums. People are selling second hand iPads for 29K.
Cheers,
Carlo
hey…magkano napo ang ipad ngayon….?
Thank you for this post, Carlo.
I just won an iPad today and I wanted to check out the accessories at Greenhills next week. Glad to know there are cheaper alternatives.
I am loving my iPad.
I am just that lucky in winning one [about two weeks ago].
Since I got it for free, I spent almost Php 4000.00 for the accessories.
I purchased the Matte-finish screen protector from PowerMac (Greenbelt) that costs Php 1,000.00. Expensive but good in quality. Buti na lang dun ako bumili kasi free na ung pagpapalagay nia through the help of their staff. I found one kasi in Ansons (Glorietta) although Php 50.00 cheaper, aba, ako daw ang maglalagay! Ang hirap kaya!
I bought a rubber frame (I don’t know how do they call it) at Php 1850.00. Ang mahal pero feeling ko naging super-Fab yung iPad ko pagkasuot ko.
Lastly, I bought an iPad case through Logic Case. Php1,000.00 at naka-Sale na xa!
After reading this blog, gudto ko ng magpunta sa Greenhills! Now na!
