How the internet is saving the Philippines

I’ve been thinking about writing this article for the past few days. As most of you know, the Philippines has recently been struck hard by the Ondoy storm. Various parts of the country now are in ruins because of the devastating force of the storm. In fact, I have a lot of friends who were affected badly by it. However in this time of darkness, I find it really inspiring to see the level of volunteerism, especially coming from the youth. What was once touted to be the most apathetic sector of society is now leading the charge in donating, packing, and delivering relief to affected communities....

Saw this on Plurk. In the front page of Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s site there’s a button standing out promoting how hardworking he is because he was hailed as one of the most prolific senators in the chamber because he’s filed so many bills and resolutions. Naturally I wanted to find out what those bills are so I can make a post about it at www.juancountry.com. Usapang OFW Presidential Forum on Saturday – August 15, 2009

This Saturday, the Blas F. Ople Foundation, in cooperation with DZMM and Netvision, will be hosting the first Usapang OFW 2010 Leaders Forum. So far the confirmed guests are: Senator Chiz Escudero, Senator Mar Roxas, Senator Jamby Madrigal, & Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio. If I get the opportunity to talk with them, I’ll definitely ask a few questions about their policy for OFW’s should they get elected.
