The Facebook FBML application is one of the most used tools for brand pages. The ability to turn a specific customizable page as the landing page for users who aren’t fans yet opens a lot of opportunities for businesses push specific marketing messagers to their customers. It’s also a great way to convince non-fans to press the “like” button. We decided to take things a little bit further with the FBML app for TV5.
If you’re not a fan yet of the TV5 Facebook Page, you’ll end up on this landing page which is pretty packed with content. First you’ll have the option to watch the featured video. Right now the video is the Babaeng Hampaslupa trailer.
Featured Video

If you scroll down you’ll see thumbnails of other featured shows by TV5. You can either click the thumbnail to open up the synopsis or you can click the “Like on Facebook” button to go to the Facebook Page of the show.

If you click the thumbnail, the synopsis pops up at the top part (which used to be the Featured Video):

Let’s say you click the “Like on Facebook” button for Face to Face. You’ll get directed to the Facebook Page of the show which has a similar layout including the synopsis as well as the thumbnails of the other programs.

So what else? Well if you scroll down there’s a button that you can click which will instantly change the page (no delays) to the program schedule of TV5. This is a pretty awesome feature.

There are also links to the main TV5 website at the bottom.
Since Facebook usually ends up as one of the most frequented contact points for brands it’s critical that we make the most out of all the potential marketing channels. The FBML app is a powerful tool if it’s maximized. My only complaint is that we can’t set a landing page for existing fans. If Facebook comes around to doing that then it will literally be one of the best online marketing tools ever made.
PS: Thanks so much to Wence Wenceslao for helping me on this particular project. You rock and I know you’ll go far in digital especially in Social Media!

The Like Us On Facebook buttons under the program thumbs need some work. I have 20/20 vision but can hardly read them.
Yup we’re working on that one xD It was already pointed out by several peeps. Thanks for the feedback!
@Carlo: Thanks for the mention, Idol! Couldn’t have done it without RC Cipriano.
@MMO Dad: Thanks for the suggestion! We’re already working on it.
Like Buttons Revised
I think Facebook is going to shut down the FBML apps on March 11, 2011. They will change it with IFrame and something Java.
