Blog Rollback (All the way back to June 17)
Jun 22
I am really dumbfounded at what just happened. Apparently the hardware of Tahanan dot Net (also known as Greymatter Unlimited), the host of this site, crashed over the weekend. That’s the main reason why the site was inaccessible since yesterday morning. Normally, I would understand but what makes things worse is that they only had the back-up for the site way back in June 17. This means that all the content June 18 onwards that was generated here, including your comments, were all lost. This includes the SEO article that I worked on for several hours (I’m trying to recover it through Google Cache as I write this).
Let me just take this opportunity to express my frustration and disappointment with my hosting service provider.
This is your mission and vision:
To become the Philippines’ leading hosting company focused on providing the best hosting services and web solutions including domains and dedicated servers. Presently, Tahanan Web Hosting Services is hosting 124 resellers and 2,151 websites from clients from the Philippines and various parts of the world.
If this is truly the case, then the least you guys can do is to do daily back-ups for the files of the site. That would constitute the “best hosting services and web solutions” part in your mission-vision statement.
The only good thing that came out of this experience is that I now know that as publisher, I CANNOT TRUST hosting companies 100%. I’ll make it a point to back-up all my posts in word documents so that when this happens again (which I think it will), I’ll have all of my content ready for re-posting.
You know what’s sad? Never even got an e-mail, call, or SMS apology from them. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. As if nothing wrong happened.
*rant mode off*
PS – I will try my best to recover all of the lost articles. Hopefully I find most of them.
Author’s Note: Thanks to Salleh for recovering the SEO article. Sadly the comments are all gone.

Now, I understand why my comment in the blogger event by Sir Randell did not appear. I hope this could be avoided in the future.
woah, this is scary, how do you back up 300 files – would take a whole day!!!!
gone are my comments in there too! i experienced lots of downtimes before with my host. the longest was three weeks. it almost killed my desire to blog.
It appears that your rss feed are delivered in excerpt form. It could have helped better if it were in full format. You just have to visit your email (if you are subscribed as well in your feeds by email).
