I’ll be giving a talk this Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Ateneo De Manila for AISEC’s Empowering Youth Entrepreneurship Seminar 2010. As most of you know I studied for 16 years in the Ateneo so I always make it a point to accept any speaking engagements that I get from that school. It’s always an honor to give back to the institution which played a critical role in molding my character and skills. My only worry right now is that I have a cold, haha. Hopefully I can get better so that I won’t have to keep on sneezing while giving my presentation. The topic will be “Talking Talent”. Here’s a quick briefer on what the talk is about based on the invitation that I got from the organizers.
Talk 2: Talking Talent
There’s a new crop of stars in town who’ve grown their celebrity status via MySpace pages, YouTube
channels, blogs and videos gone viral. And now, of course, they’re celebrity spokespeople.
This section will focus on Marketing Yourself Online. Whether it’s simply posting your resume, blogging
for profit or creating a gallery of artwork, know how to sell what you can do. Before the Internet, artists
had very few outlets to sell their work, distribute music while writers’ work could not be published so
easily. Today there are a whole host of online galleries and blogs such as Flickr, Deviantart, Lookbook,
Blogspot, WordPress, etc. making it easier to get your work in front of the public. It has also become
possible to market services or products through product demonstrations, singing, etc.
I’m pretty psyched up for this talk because I’m a living and breathing testimony on how one can leverage the internet to build a career and business through personal branding. I’ll be sharing a lot of case studies as well as personal experience in the 30-45 minutes that I have.

Currently working on the deck for the presentation and I’m pretty satisfied with what I have so far. To those attending the seminar, see you guys tomorrow!

Hi Carlo. I was just at Ateneo to pick up my godson from their prom last weekend. Can HS students attend that seminar? I am so much for personal branding too and leveraging on the power of the internet for entrepreneurs, even for kids, instead of them playing DOTA all the time.
Actually I’ll touch on the topic of DOTA. Hahaha.
I don’t know if HS students can attend though. You’ll have to contact the organizers.
