I’ve been using my iPad for several months now and I find myself using my Macbook less and less. Most of the presentations I create and present are done mostly on the iPad already. With regards to media consumption, I read all of my books now on the iPad, listen to my music, surf the net, and do social networking. I even use it more for e-mail than my Macbook. I used it yesterday more than the usual though and I wanted to share my experience with you guys.
7:30AM – I wake up to the song “Secrets” of One Republic through my iPad’s Night Stand HD alarm clock app.

7:40AM – I really wake up now as the second alarm kicks in. (LOL)
9:15AM – Before heading out to my first meeting, I open my mailbox on the iPad and start answering some important e-mails. After closing my inbox, I check out what’s happening on Twitter and Facebook.
9:45AM – Go down and head off to my first meeting with a client. The great thing with having a driver is you can do work on the car. I open my iPad and start reviewing the slides I prepared the previous night. I make edits on several slides via Keynote.
10:40AM – My first meeting of the day! I open the Notable app to review my notes from our previous meeting and to double check the agenda. After some chit chat I go ahead with the presentation. I plug in the iPad to the projector via the VGA-Adaptor.
11:30AM – Presentation ends. My client says that her daughter has been raving about Charice on the first episode of Glee. I bring out the iPad and play the Glee Season 2 Episode 1 clip with Charice singing.
12:10PM – Massive traffic jam on Edsa. I bring out my wireless headphones, link it up via bluetooth to my iPad, and listen to Billionaire (one of my favorite songs, haha).

Platronics Bluetooth Wireless Headset
12:45PM – I check e-mail again using the iPad while having late lunch in a restaurant in Greenhills while waiting for my next consultancy meeting at 1PM. To pass time I play World Series of Poker on the iPad.
1:15PM – I sketch a website wire frame for a client on the iPad using the Pen Ultimate app. Client agrees to my suggestions on how to change his site.

2:00PM – Work on a contract using Pages app. Since I need to type a lot of stuff I bring out the wireless Bluetooth Keyboard. I load a template, make changes, and send it via e-mail.
2:30PM – Big big big meeting! Presenting to a client. I use the iPad again with the VGA Adapter to deliver the program that I have for them. Response was good, hoping for approval soon.
4:20PM – Relaxing in the car listening to some personal favorite songs on the iPad. I check my calendar to review my meetings for the rest of the week.
9:00PM – I freaked someone out who was seated near my Macbook. Using the iTunes Remote app on the iPad I quickly changed songs, played movies, etc. on iTunes, hahaha. Good times.
The iPad is definitely one of the best investments I’ve made. Initially I thought it was just a fun device but it has really changed the way I work. It’s a portable, lightweight, fun, serious, and productive machine that can make a difference if used properly.

Two thumbs up, Apple. Now if only you guys can deliver the multi-tasking feature ASAP.

Carlo is the Ipad with a sim card available in Manila already? Or can you hook up the ipad via bluetooth to your mobile phone to connect to the internet?
There’s no official distributor yet Derek. Best is to get it in Singapore so you won’t have to pay too much. Grey market prices locally are still a bit high.
right on! i am enjoying my 64 gb ipad as well. had a friend bring it in from Hong Kong. i take it around with me. now i can leave my laptop at home.
Okay I want to see this article again when (not if) you decide to buy the Blackberry Tablet. hahahaha! If it has the same linking ability I’m like sooo gonna buy one!!!! :p
BlackBerry Playbook… *Drools*
You are going to love the next iPad update which we developers have been enjoying the past few weeks… multitasking, folders….
Looking forward to it Floyd! I feel like the iPad is not getting enough attention because of the iPhone 4.
I’ve got the 64GB 3G version and really, it’s been my Macbook replacement except when I have to do hardcore typing. Also, it’s so much easier on my eyes. I never attempted to port my e-books to my ipod touch since I knew my eyes would just suffer from the size but reading it via the ipad? WHOA!!! Yes, I can hardly wait for the multitasking and folders features because I already had that on the ipod touch, which is now making my girl happy.
That’s the one I wanted to get
I hesitated in investing more in a 3G model because I had a MIFI. If I could travel back in time I would have just gotten a 64GB 3G model.
I mostly have the same experience with my iPad. As I usually discuss performance metrics with people at the office it’s really nice to have around so I can show them real time stats right from my iPad. I only have the wifi model but when I need to go online on the go I use joikuspot on my nokia phone which works great. The update to iWork apps is also great now we can export to MS Office! I’m still looking for a cheap vga adapter though, how much did you get yours Carlo?
Hello Carlo. Ask ko lang if you can download apps with your iPad at the iTunes store using a Philippine iTunes account? I heard ata may mga compatiblity issues ang iPad pag asia or us version ng iPad? Im thinking of getting one kasi sayang naman kung di ako maka download sa iTunes store… thanks
